<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">If you've followed the news for the past 11-12 days, then I'm sure you've seen footage of the horrible storms and tornadoes that ravaged many parts of Oklahoma on May 19th and May 20th.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">I wanted to share with you my husband's experience on May 20th. Andrew was in Newcastle, Oklahoma that day working. He left early that morning and planned on working there all day long. That same Monday morning, I headed to take my oldest to pre-school. Each and every day, I pray with my children and cloak our day in prayer. That day was no different. On the way to school I prayed the following:

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

Thank you for the constant hedge of protection over each of us. Thank you that your guardian angels are encamped around us always. Thank you, Lord, that no weapon formed against us will prosper, no evil will befall us, nor any plague come near us. Thank you for blessing each of us with long, healthy, peaceful and prosperous lives, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">As I went about my day in Broken Arrow, my husband went about his day in Newcastle, Oklahoma. Later that afternoon, my husband and two other employees were working on the interior concrete of a home when one of the employees saw the tornado on the ground headed towards them only two houses away. My husband and his employees had merely seconds to take shelter before the tornado hit. My husband and one employee took shelter in a bath tub, while the other employee took shelter in an interior closet. The tornado hit the home and basically leveled it, ripping the roof off and leaving only partial walls which were shifted 15-feet off of the slab. As my husband took shelter, he cried out, "Jesus, save me!" He prayed Psalm 91:15-16 while the walls began to collapse around him:

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">"He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation."

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">After the storm settled, my husband and the other employee dug out of about 4-feet of rubble and debris. They then called out for the third employee. All three men were safe and virtually unharmed. With only a scratch here and there, they were basically unscathed after enduring a horrific force of nature.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">They immediately went to other home sites around them, looking for other survivors and trying to help those in need. My husband's truck was totaled in the tornado, so my husband and the other two men then set out on foot trying to seek shelter and find help.

The first place my husband and his co-workers sought help was the New Castle Walmart. Even though they were in a strange town, Walmart was a familiar site. My husband and his co-workers were dirty from the home collapsing on top of them and dirty from the storm debris. Their phones were not working and they simply were seeking shelter, something to drink and maybe somewhere to clean up. As the men approached the Walmart, they hoped to seek a safe haven from the catastrophic events that they had just endured. However, Walmart staff turned the men as well as other tornado survivors away. It was disheartening to hear that my husband and his co-workers, in a time of desperate need, were turned away to seek help elsewhere. My husband as well as other storm victims, set out on foot to find shelter and help elsewhere.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">The men finally made it to a local Braum's and met a woman who just happened to be in the same neighborhood that my husband and his employees had also been in during the tornado. The fellow survivor mentioned that someone was giving her a ride to the local hotel and mentioned to Andy that this person might also give them a ride there. My husband was then introduced to the "Good Samaritan" who offered my husband a ride to the hotel where he could seek shelter for the night until he was able to head back home. On the drive to the hotel, my husband talked with the woman (Good Samaritan) about a few things. From their conversation, it was obvious that the woman was also a Christian. The Good Samaritan said that she was headed to Sallisaw, Oklahoma for a funeral and asked my husband where he lived. My husband knew that Broken Arrow wasn't too far out of the way on the drive to Sallisaw, but knowing that the woman was traveling alone, my husband didn't want to ask for a ride. After all, these three men were complete strangers to this Good Samaritan and my husband didn't want to make the woman feel uncomfortable by asking her for a ride to Broken Arrow.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Upon arriving at the hotel, the other tornado survivor went to check-in with the front desk. The Good Samaritan and my husband continued talking when out of the blue she asked, "So, would you and your friends like a ride to Broken Arrow?" My husband was stunned. Obviously, this woman had to hear from God that it was OK to help these men, these complete strangers. The Good Samaritan had to have a complete peace and know that she could help them. My husband and his employees were thrilled and arrived back in Broken Arrow around 10pm that evening on May 20th.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">The Good Samaritan started her day off in New Mexico, got stuck in the New Castle Braums because of the tornado and then met my husband. This Good Samaritan is a Christian and wanted to lend a hand. This Good Samaritan reminds me of Matthew 25:40: "Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Please continue to pray for Oklahoma. We are in the path of more storms this evening and potential tornadoes. In fact, there was a tornado touch down only about 1.5 miles away from our home last night. Be alert and stay safe!

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">This past fall, Cotton Babies' Share The Love program officially launched. I'm a proud Host Site for the Greater Tulsa, Oklahoma area. I'm thrilled to be working with such an amazing company helping families in need. Share The Love is a Cotton Babies program created to receive donated used cloth diapers and distribute them to families in need of a little extra support. No family should have to choose between diapers or food, when you Give Love we will be able to share that with others.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">So, are you currently choosing between diapers and food?

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">The Cotton Babies Share The Love program may be able to help. So, it is from a place of experience and understanding that we desire to reach out to others, because we know the power of a caring, helping hand.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Back in July, a family in Coweta, Oklahoma who lost their home due to a house fire after it was struck by lightning. The Dooley Family's home was a complete loss. Mrs. Dooley is a momma I know from my cloth diapering group here in Tulsa, Oklahoma. At the time, the Dooley had a baby boy who was 6-months old and I was stirred to help in anyway possible. Shower of Hope Oklahoma donated some goodies for the Dooley Family and reached out to followers on the Shower of Hope Oklahoma Facebook pages to do the same. Many thoughtful care packages were sent to the Dooley Family which were full of clothes and blankets for the Dooley's baby boy plus generous gift cards. Shower of Hope Oklahoma also reached out Cotton Babies to help rebuild and replace Mrs. Dooley's cloth diaper stash. Cotton Babies generously sent 20 cloth diapers for the Dooley Family.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">We are Still living in an apartment in Broken Arrow until our house is done. They are saying we could be back in by mid November but still haven't given us an exact date yet. They have made a lot of progress on the house & we are so excited and ready to be home! We are still very appreciative of the continued thoughts & prayers we have received and donations we got after the fire. Our little guy is growing fast & has grown out of a lot of the clothes we had given to us. Please know we have paid it forward and donated all his clothes to others in need. So, your gifts continue to keep on giving! Our life has taken on a new "normal" & we are doing good! Thanks again for everything!!

From studying Youth Ministry at Rhema Bible Training Center, serving in the youth ministry at my local church, to working in the nurseries there, I've always loved working with children. Jesus esteems children and values them greatly. In Matthew 19:14, Jesus says, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">In case you didn't know, I have two little boys. My oldest, Michael, is 3-years old. My youngest, Samuel, will be two this Friday, August 3rd. I pray for my two little boys daily. I'm a firm believer in the power of prayer and have been a witness to the miracle of prayer.
Baby Cullen is 4-weeks old and is from Elk City, Oklahoma. He was rushed to the Children's Hospital there for suspected whooping cough. Just two weeks ago, <span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Aiden Smith<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">, a 7-week old baby boy also from Elk City, Oklahoma, passed away from whooping cough.
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The first care package was sent to the Parada Family. Breanna Parada was 8-months pregnant at the time and was at home with her 3-year old daughter when a tornado hit the town of Woodward, Oklahoma. Breanna Parada's home was destroyed by the tornado. Thankfully, this young mother and her family were unharmed, but lost everything in the storm. 89 homes in Woodward were destroyed along with 13 businesses. When I heard about this young mother, I instantly wanted to send a care package for her family. My mom endured a house fire several years ago and any natural disaster is a traumatic experience, so I understood wholeheartedly what this family was enduring. From a new diaper bag, to diapers and wipes, Breanna's care package was quite special and had lots of goodies for her unborn baby boy. There were goodies from Lansinoh, Sweet Knee Skin Care For Baby, BabyLegs, Summer Infant, Dr. Brown's Baby, mOmma and more!
Little Ty lost his daddy, Frank Hobbie and his two sisters, 7-year-old Faith and 5-year-old Kellie, when a tornado ripped through their home in Woodward, Oklahoma. Ty was the only survivor. We sent the package as a "Get Well Soon" and "Happy Birthday" care package for Ty as his 2nd birthday was on May 25th. After speaking to a family member, we learned that Ty loved cars and of course the Disney "CARS" movies. We sent him some car goodies including a few new outfits and some outdoor play items. our hope was that these goodies would bring a smile to his sweet face and remind Ty that there were many people praying for him.
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
It was a wonderful conference full of knowledgeable, entertaining speakers, plus there were many fun events and activities. I met many moms from across the state and we chatted about our families, our jobs and our lives. Shower of Hope Oklahoma came up in conversation and I shared with some of the moms about this charity and some of the work that I've been doing. Many of the moms wanted to know, "What was your inspiration for creating Shower of Hope Oklahoma?" While helping the Hamil Family was the initial charitable endeavor, the true inspiration came from my two little boys. The 1-year anniversary of the creation of Shower of Hope Oklahoma is quickly approaching and I want to take this opportunity to share the story of how Shower of Hope Oklahoma came to be.
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">

<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">It was Sunday, May 22, 2011 and my husband and I were watching the nightly news. It was around 9:30PM and every news channel was covering the storms and tornadoes that ravaged Joplin, Missouri. News helicopters were hovering over many sites and buildings in Joplin, and while it was dark outside, you could already see the devastation. The scene was unreal. I remember watching the news the following morning on Monday, May 23, 2011 and again, the scene was simply unreal. There was so much destruction and many lives lost. While the Joplin tornado was the forefront of the newscast that morning, the severe weather moving into Oklahoma the following day took center stage. The weather forecaster was forecasting many severe storms and tornadoes for many parts of Oklahoma for May 24, 2011. With the Joplin tragedy so fresh in the media and in people's minds, the forecasters were strongly urging people to have a severe weather plan. Here in Oklahoma, often referred to as "Tornado Alley," we have many, many storm and tornado warnings. However, these storm warnings were definitely being taken seriously.
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">

<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I spent Tuesday, May 24, 2011, doing my best to prepare for the severe weather expected to hit later in the day. I went to the store and bought candles, flashlights, batteries and bottled water. When I got home, I made sure all of our important legal documents were together, I packed a diaper bag for my two little ones, gathered pictures and put everything in the downstairs closet. My husband came home from work early that day and after dinner, my family of four gathered in the living room. While my then 9-month old and 2-year old played in the living room, my husband and I sat on the couch and began watching the news for weather updates. The majority of the state was being hammered by storms and there were numerous tornado sightings. Then, the tornado sirens came on and began blaring through the neighborhood. We immediately scooped up the boys and retreated to the closet underneath the staircase. My little family of four was tucked away in a closet and listened to the radio for weather updates as the rain and wind pounded our home. After about 15 minutes of taking shelter, the weather calmed down. We were blessed and fortunate enough to miss the tornadoes. Shortly after the storm had passed, my husband and I tucked our two little boys in bed, said bedtime prayers and watched our little ones fall asleep. We were all safe and sound.
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">

<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The following day on May 25th, I saw and read reports of damage across many parts of the state. Many Oklahoma families lost their homes and possessions because of these horrific storms. Many communities were left beaten and bruised. That morning, I also heard the story of the Hamil Family from Piedmont, Oklahoma. Hank Hamil was away cutting and harvesting wheat out of state. His wife, Catherine Hamil, was at home in Oklahoma and took shelter with her 3 children during the May 24th storms. Tragically, a tornado ripped through their home. Catherine and her 5-year old daughter, Cathleen, survived, but were in critical condition. Catherine's 15-month old baby boy, Cole, succumbed to his injuries and her 3-year old son, Ryan, was missing. When I heard about the Hamil’s tragic story, I was left heartbroken. As a mommy, I couldn't even begin to imagine the immense pain and loss Catherine was experiencing. I immediately said a prayer for the Hamil Family and prayed that little Ryan was found.
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">

<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">On May 26th, I had just put my two little boys down for their morning naps. I logged onto Facebook and the first story that I saw was that the body of Ryan Hamil had been found. My heart just sank and I began to cry. I turned the computer monitor off and went to sit on the couch. As I sat there crying, I had a stirring in the pit of my stomach. A huge lump formed in my throat and face was becoming flush. I recognized this feeling as I have had it in the past. I felt God stirring my heart. It was as if God softly whispered to my spirit, "Toni, help this family." I distinctly remember having this inner dialogue... "God, I hear you and I know you want me to help, but what do I do? How can I possibly help them? I'm just a stay-at-home mom. I haven't worked in a year. What can I do? How can I possibly make a difference?"
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">

<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I stared across my living room. There was a baby swing, a baby bouncer, a bottle and sippy cup in the corner, toy cars and trucks littered the floor. I thought of my little boys sleeping peacefully in the next room. My heart swelled with love for those precious boys. Those little boys of mine were and would continue to look to me as their example of compassion, generosity and charity. I felt stirred to do something. I felt compelled. I had to act. I would be obedient to what God wanted me to do. I was 30-years old and it was time to step-up to the plate and get off the sidelines. This was my opportunity to truly make a difference. All too often, we feel led to do or say something, yet we do nothing. I had been that person in the past and no longer wished to be that person anymore. I had to be an example to my little boys. They were counting on me.
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">

<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I decided to collect baby and toddler items for Catherine's unborn baby girl. The Hamil's home was gone and any baby items saved from her other children were gone as well. My hope and desire was to "shower the Hamil Family with hope." I hoped the care packages and other items received would bless them and give them hope for their future. As I began creating the Facebook page, I remember praying that God's hands would be all over this endeavor. I wanted Him to bless it exceedingly and abundantly. Within 2 days of starting the Facebook page, I already had received pledges from many large companies that were committed to sending items for the family. Within a couple of weeks, 1,500+ people liked the Shower of Hope Oklahoma - Hamil Family Facebook page and were inquiring everyday as to how they could help. The outpouring of love, support and generosity was simply overwhelming. 2nd Corinthians 9:7 says, “God loves a cheerful giver”. Every company, family and individual who gave to Shower of Hope Oklahoma – Hamil Family demonstrated that cheerfulness. After several weeks of collecting and receiving donations and care packages for the Hamil Family, July 1st was our delivery day. You see pictures and read more about the delivery day to the Hamil Family here. It was a wonderful day and God surely blessed it.
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">

<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Since helping the Hamil Family last year, Shower of Hope Oklahoma has been blessed to help other families in need as well. My desire is to continue helping Oklahoma families in need. I'm in awe of how fast this past year has gone. It's amazing to me that the 1-year anniversary of little Ryan and Cole's passing is quickly approaching. I pray that over the next several days, you'll continue to lift up the Hamil Family in prayer. I know this will be a tough time for them, and while they are continually pushing forward, there are still sad times as Ryan and Cole are so missed. I also ask that strive to be a person who gets off the sidelines. Be inspired and do something. You can be a world changer. You can make a difference.
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">When I created Shower of Hope Oklahoma, my initial endeavor was to help the Hamil Family. Having two little boys of my own, their tragedy really hit close to home with me and I've always been passionate about helping children. From serving in the youth ministry at my local church, to working in the nurseries there, I've always loved working with children. Jesus esteems children and values them greatly. In Matthew 19:14, Jesus says, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." So, whenever an opportunity arises to help a child or children in need, my heart is instantly compelled to help and do something. During times like these, Matthew 25:40 comes to mind... "I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these, you did for me."
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">So, as many of you know, Oklahoma endured severe weather this past weekend. Strong storms, high winds, hail and tornadoes hit many parts of the state. Jamai Lyda, a woman that I came to know through the Shower of Hope Oklahoma Facebook page, is helping a young family in need right now. A young mother who's 8-month pregnant with a baby boy due in May was at home with her 3-year old daughter when a tornado hit the town of Woodward, Oklahoma. My mom endured a housefire several years ago and any natural disaster is a traumatic experience, so I understand wholeheartedly what this family is enduring.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">I plan on sending a care package to the Parada Family for their soon-to-be baby from Shower of Hope Oklahoma. My desire is for this care package to be a blessing and an encouragement to them during this difficult time of re-building and starting over. If you would like to send a care package for the Parada Family, you can send it to:
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">If you live near or around the Enid, Oklahoma area, you can also drop off a donation at Covenant Life Christian Church. Donation drop-off times are Monday - Saturday from 11am - 6pm. Breanna Parada wears a size 8/9 in pants and a size large in shirts/blouses. Her daughter wears 5T/6T and her husband wears 32/34 in pants and size large in shirts. The church is also accepting clothing of all sizes, baby/toddler items, furniture/appliances, non perishable foods, toiletry items are other essential items for other storm victims.
"Following is post from Catherine Hamil: I just found out that on January 19, 2012, Rep. Richard Morrissette filed HB2720 Ryan and Cole Hamil Act to advise buyers of the storm worthiness of particular homes. The next step will be up to the Speaker of the House to assign the bill to the appropriate committee. Once in committee, citizen supporters of the measure must convince the Chairman of that committee to place the bill on the calendar for consideration. If the bill is not heard, it will not come up for a vote this session. Personal visits to members' offices at the Capitol, letters, emails, and phone calls to committee members, and the Chairman of the committee, are essential.
I have to admit, I love the change in most people's attitude during Christmas, but I have to wonder why we can't act like this all year round. Is it too much to ask that we strive to have a more loving and generous spirit about us beyond December 1st - 25th?
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
I, along with 4 other Tulsa-area women, were recognized at the July 28th Tulsa Shock WNBA game. The Williams Women of Inspiration Award recognizes positive influence, service and dedication in the community.
Being recognized in such a public way was a little overwhelming, but I felt so humbled and so blessed. I think of the passage Luke 16:10: "Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much..." I'm so thankful that God placed this desire in my heart and trusted me to see it through. I'm glad I was obedient to the calling because God blessed the endeavors of Shower of Hope Oklahoma exceedingly and abundantly.

Not only did the endeavors of Shower of Hope Oklahoma bless the Hamil family and other families in need, but it was such a blessing to me. I was amazed at the outpouring of love and support from so many people. Without God, the amazing support of my family and new Shower of Hope Oklahoma friends on Facebook and this blog, this honor wouldn't have been made possible. Thank you!

My dream, goal and ultimate desire is to continue blessing and helping future families in need. I have realized that I hadn't kept the blog updated like I had the Shower of Hope Oklahoma - Hamil Family Facebook page. Below is an older "Note" from our Facebook page, but wanted to share it on the blog as well! The Hamil Family Dinner and Silent Auction was held in Oklahoma City on July 15th and was a fabulous event. I had the honor of playing a small role in the event by procuring three donations! I had contacted Ree Drummond, the famed "Pioneer Woman," about donating to the auction. She graciously sent signed copies of her cookbook and her most recent book, "Black Heels To Tractor Wheels." I also contacted Pops Arcadia who graciously donated some of their awesome soda for the event. Enjoy reading about the event below!
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
We didn't want to miss an opportunity to support the Hamil Family. Hank and Catherine were at the auction, as well as many other family members from the Hamil side and the Hill (Catherine's) side. I had the pleasure of meeting Hank's brother and father. Both were super nice and reminded me a lot of Hank. It was so nice to see Hank, Catherine and other members of their family smiling, laughing and enjoying the festivities. Catherine looked awesome. Although, she's very humble and was a little shy about compliments about her. However, she does look beautiful and is recovering well. Hank and Catherine walked around the room and were sweet to talk and meet many well-wishers and supporters.
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
The bake sale was completely sold out by the end of the evening. My mom helped with that by buying a carrot cake, which came home with me! She also bought cinnamon rolls and cookies. I mean, we wanted dessert after dinner! Doesn't everybody? :)
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">

<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">There were lots of items to browse, choose from and bid on last night. The live auction was exciting to watch, too. However, the highlight of the night was when Hank was presented with 2 full-ride scholarships for Cathleen and Baby Girl Hamil to the University of Oklahoma. I actually knew about the surprise and had to keep it a secret as to not spoil the surprise! I think Hank was astonished as were many others in the audience. Talk about an amazing blessing. Something funny, Hank is an OSU Cowboy fan, but it looks like his daughters will be Sooners!
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
We walked outside with Hank to load his vehicle. We chatted for a little bit. Hank was kind to ask about my husband and wanted to know how was doing. He also wanted to know how my little boys were doing. "Hope your little ones are tucked in bed and fast asleep when you get home," he commented. "I sure hope so!" I said. I smiled and Hank smiled, too. What a great man. A few minutes later, Catherine came outside. We had talked with her for a little bit inside earlier in the evening, but hadn't gotten the chance to say goodbye as she was chatting with some other well-wishers and we didn't want to interrupt. Catherine walked over to the car and hugged me and thanked us for the new goodies that we had delivered. My mom and I secretly hope that Hank and Catherine would like to move to Broken Arrow and consider being our neighbors. If you ever have the opportunity to meet them, you'll feel the same way. They're wonderful people.
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">

<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Thanks to all of you who helped spread the word on Facebook and by sharing about the dinner/auction with your family and friends. Thank you, too, for the continued support of Shower of Hope Oklahoma - Hamil Family and our other page, Shower of Hope Oklahoma. It was an amazing day and I wanted to go into a little more detail about our delivery day to this wonderful family!

The plan for delivery day was to meet Kim, Hank's Aunt and my Hamil Family contact, at a storage facility in Oklahoma City. Kim had mentioned that Hank and Catherine wanted to meet me and was hoping they would be there the day we delivered the donations and care packages. Being that Catherine is still recovering from the injuries she sustained from the tornado and is currently still using a wheelchair, I wasn't for sure if we'd have the opportunity to meet her or not. Her recovery is day-by-day. I was really hoping to meet Hank and Catherine, but meeting them wasn't the reason for this endeavor. I simply wanted to help and have a venue for others to have the opportunity to help as well. So, imagine my surprise, when Catherine, Hank and Cathleen were there to greet us. I just beamed with excitement. Not only were they there to meet us, but Hank's mom, Catherine's mom and Hank's cousin Joey were there as well. It was such an honor and pleasure to meet all of them. Hank had actually been moving cattle in Gurthrie, but took time to meet us at the storage unit. Like many of you, I didn't personally know the Hamil Family. I had never met them. I just knew their story and was moved by it. I had a feeling I knew what type of people they were though; kind hearted, down-to-earth, genuine. I was right. Hank is a character and has such a wonderful sense of humor. He has a big smile and is a lot of fun to be around. Hank is the type of friend you could call if you were in a bind and needed help. Catherine has a quiet, sweet spirit. You can tell Catherine has a tender and compassionate heart. She's a beautiful woman inside and out. Catherine and Hank are the type of people you'd want as your next door neighbor.

All of us went to lunch at Poblano Grill. It was so nice to see Hank and Catherine smile. It was a happy smile. The past month has been a roller coaster of emotion for them, but they are handling everything with such strength and grace. I'm simply amazed. They were sweet to ask about my boys. They were genuinely interested in my life and my boys. Even as I write this, I'm moved with emotion because my boys are just a little younger then Ryan and Cole. These two wonderful people just lost their precious sons, but were so thoughtful to ask about mine.

Simply put, they are good people. Finally meeting them, makes me want to do even more. They sincerely and genuinely appreciated all of the wonderful treasures, gifts and donations that we brought for them. So, THANK YOU! Without you and God's immense blessing, this endeavor wouldn't have been possible. You have helped bless a truly wonderful family.

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Department wanted to reach out to the Hamil Family and other storm victims affected by the May 24th storms and tornadoes. They decided to partner with Shower of Hope Oklahoma and do a tornado victim donation drive. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Department accepted donations the week of June 13th - 17th. My father-n-law and I traveled to Chandler on June 17th and picked up a U-Haul truckload of donation items. Thanks to Kelly George for organizing the donation drive and for helping Shower of Hope Oklahoma help others in need!
<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">

<div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Select inmates were able to help load the truck. The selected inmates had a non-violent crime and were allowed outdoor privileges, such as mowing, tending the lawn and landscaping around the jail and courthouse.
