A couple of weeks ago, I was contacted by Kelly George with the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department in Chandler, Oklahoma. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Department wanted to reach out to the Hamil Family and other storm victims affected by the May 24th storms and tornadoes. They decided to partner with Shower of Hope Oklahoma and do a tornado victim donation drive. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Department accepted donations the week of June 13th - 17th. My father-n-law and I traveled to Chandler on June 17th and picked up a U-Haul truckload of donation items. Thanks to Kelly George for organizing the donation drive and for helping Shower of Hope Oklahoma help others in need!
Select inmates were able to help load the truck. The selected inmates had a non-violent crime and were allowed outdoor privileges, such as mowing, tending the lawn and landscaping around the jail and courthouse.
The Lincoln County Jail in Chandler is a self-reliant jail where inmates cook, bake, clean and have jobs and other responsibilities.
I hope these men were able to see the generosity and cheerful spirit in which the citizens in Lincoln County showed with their donations to Shower of Hope Oklahoma and Shower of Hope Oklahoma - Hamil Family. Maybe the generosity will soften their hearts and turn their lives around for the better.
